Diet for Quick Weight Loss

Wanting a diet for quick weight loss seems to be quite common these days. We are a country of instant gratification and losing weight is no different. We want to look good right away. But if you think back, most of us cannot remember gaining that first pound or even the first twenty.  All we know is we are looking at what seems like an insurmountable task in front of us. You can take the weight off quickly, if you have the motivation to stick to a plan and ample time to exercise.

If you look at the individuals on “The Biggest Loser” you will see people that are part of a diet for quick weight loss, but they are exercising many hours each day and they are being closely medically monitored. Many of these people lose 100 pounds in less than 3 months, but at that time their whole life revolves around losing the weight. Most people are not capable of this unless they are in a controlled environment. If you have ever watched the show, you will see how many of their contestants will struggle when they return home. Most of them get back on track when they adapt their lives to their needs.

The quickest way for a person to lose weight is with a meal replacement eating plan. This is a plan that involves protein shakes and one meal of lean protein and vegetables each day. These diet plans are normally very low in carbohydrates and calories. While they are safe and the shakes have to meet nutritional guidelines, I find it hard to follow a plan of this type. However, many people have lost a large amount of weight following a meal replacement plan.

This is one option for losing weight, but fortunately it is not the only alternative. If meal replacement works for you…go for it. If it doesn’t, don’t give up. There are many great plans. Weight Watchers, eDiets, Jenny Craig and NutriSystems are some of the more well known programs available today. There are also more books than one can count that contain plans for healthy eating as well as recipes along with all the nutritional information included.

Losing weight is about following a program that will allow you to get healthy and stay that way. If you can lose the weight quickly and maintain the weight loss, you will be right where you want to be. If you find you are struggling with your “quick” weight loss plan, it is time to look for something that you can follow. Even if you only lose a pound a week, you will eventually get where you want to be.
